The Buttera & Cork Shawlies Parade
At 11.45am, the Cork Butter Exchange Band will open the Festival by marching from North Gate Bridge along the good auld North Main Street, Kyle Street to Cornmarket Street accompanied by the Coal Shawlies where they will meet the Lord Mayor who will open the Festival. The people of Cork are more than welcome to join the colourful parade.
MuddyLee and the Cork Shawlies will perform a special Coal Quay Dance for the Lord Mayor.

Prayers of Remembrance
Prayers will be said by the Bishop of Cork, John Buckley; Fr Patrick McCarthy, SS Peter & Paul's; tAthair Tomas o Murchu formerly SS Peter and Paul's; Fr Larry Mulligan, St Francis and Fr John Lyng, St Augustine in remembrance of the deceased Coal Quay dealers and residents of the area who have passed on. Doves will be released in memory of them.

This unique voluntary fun-filled family festival will celebrate the heart and soul of Cork City Ð the Coal Quay with its rich vibrant colourful heritage, tradition and culture in music, song, story, poetry, theatrical performances, & comedy. For the children, there will be face painters; clowns; magic shows, children's fancy dress, balloon modelling, Loomband Making; Ron the Pottery Man and many more. Don't be surprised if you see some of the grand auld characters of the Coal Quay winding and weaving their way through the colourful crowd! Also on show will be a fabulous photographic exhibition of old maps and illustrations exhibited along the entire street scape, showcasing the Coal Quay Market in its former days with its quintessential traders dressed in traditional shawls, this MUST SEE EXHIBITION will be staged for a week in the Cork Vision Centre, North Mail Street with films of the 2012 and 2013 festivals also on show.
Cork City Fire Department will showcase their elegant early 20th century Fire Brigade engine along with a modern engine; Fire officers will be on duty to give talks on the history of the Fire Service in Cork.
Traditional food will be served by The Bodega and The Cornstore on the day.
Why not dress-up in traditional costume - your grandmothers and grandfathers clothes and join in the party atmosphere. Come along and join the fun on the good auld Coal Quay- a treat for all the family. See you there!
