Scoill Oilibheir, Ballyvolane was awarded an 'Artist in Context' award by Cork City Council. This grant paid for an architect to visit Ms. Ann Horgan's 4th class ( 28 pupils) on a twice weekly basis since September. Sean O Muiri was the visiting architect. Pupils were introduced to the basics of architecture and have designed and modelled 'A School of the Future '. A grand exhibition of 'The School of the Future' took place in Scoil Oilibheir on November 6th. Maeve Dineen, Community Arts Officer with Cork City Council attended, as did Robert Mandel, President RIAI and Kathryn Meghan, Assistant Director, RIAI .This collaboration between an architect and a primary school class has never taken place before and is truly innovative.
