FRESH APPROACH TO FILM MAKING BY CORK'S YOUNG FILM MAKERS
20 films made by teenagers from Cork city and county will be screened in The Triskel Arts Centre on Wednesday 24th February as part of Fresh Film Festival. Fresh Film Festival is Ireland's major film festival showcasing films made by Irish and international young filmmakers.
From the spooky to the fantastical, mockumentary to factual the young filmmakers of Cork have produced an extensive range of short films. The screening is suitable for audiences over 13 years of age, particularly students from CSPE Class, Transition Year & Senior Cycle Media.
Finalists for Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year 2016 awards will be selected from among the films screened at the Triskel Arts Centre. The successful candidates will then go through to the finals in Limerick city on the 10th March where they will compete against young filmmakers from around Ireland for the title of Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year 2016.
Other exclusive awards up for grabs at Fresh Film Festival include the RTÉ 60 Second Award, the Radharc Award for documentary, the Brown Bag Award for animation and the RTÉ Factual Award in addition to the International and Audience Awards.
Festival Director Jayne Foley says:
“Fresh Film Festival is a wonderful opportunity for young people to have their films shown on the big screen; their films will be viewed by senior film producers and directors as well as by their peers. Each year we continue to be impressed by the creativity and quality of the work produced by Cork's young people”
The screening runs from 10am to 1:30pm. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance. Audiences interested in attending can book their places by contacting freshfilmfestival@gmail.com or by calling 061 319 555. Further details about Fresh Film Festival are available on www.freshfilmfestival.net
