The Lord Mayor of Cork City
Cllr. Des Cahill invited Transition Year students from Cork City Secondary Schools to take part in a Lord Mayor’s School Debate to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of being a member of the European Union under the title: “That Ireland is better off with the European Union”. Each school selected two teams, one of which debated in favour of the motion and the other against. Each team consisted of two pupils. The debate took place in the Council Chamber, City Hall on Thursday 16th February, 2.00 – 5.00 p.m. From the competing schools, four will be selected to travel to the European Parliament in Brussels.
