People watched the skies in the hope of catching a sight of the 'blood moon' during the lunar eclipse on Friday night. Cloud and rain showers meant the event passed off with no opportunities to see the 'blood moon', or the planet Mars in the night sky. Indoor events at Blackrock Castle Observatory, Cork went ahead to mark the occasion.
