Blarney Street CBS Brass Band puts the shine on Christmas;
Supported by Music Generation Cork City and in partnership with Cork Academy of Music, The Blarney Street CBS School brass band performed their annual Christmas concert today with over 40 young musicians taking to the stage.

The concert took place at Blarney St CBS and the children filled the hall with wonderful performances of traditional, as well as more contemporary tunes and Carols to celebrate the Christmas season.

Offered to 4th, 5th and 6th year primary school children, the brass programme has been running at the school for a number of years with weekly tuition in a number of instruments, including cornet, baritone, euphonium, trombone and saxophone. Having established a school brass band in partnership with The Cork Academy of Music, young musicians are given the opportunity to perform at both school and public events throughout the year.
Following the Christmas concert, school music teacher and coordinator, Brenda Griffin said,
 "We were delighted with today's turnout; the atmosphere was electric! The boys played to a jam packed audience and had them clapping and singing along, which got everyone in the mood for Christmas. We also featured ten soloists during the performance which added a lovely dynamic to the concert. We received some great feedback from the parents who have seen how their children's playing has not only improved, but their confidence boosted no end."
