Cork TD, Jerry Buttimer, Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Health and Children launched the Coeliac Society of Ireland’s National Convention and the ‘Ballynogluten Food Market’, Ireland’s first ever 100% Gluten Free Food Market.
The Coeliac Society of Ireland, in association with Supervalu, hosted Ireland’s first ever 100% Gluten Free Food Market at the Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork on Saturday the 4th October as part of the organisation’s annual ‘National Convention’. The event brought together coeliacs of all ages, from all over Ireland to interact in a fun environment to learn more about the disease, discover new gluten free products and engage with other members of the ever growing coeliac community in Ireland.
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease which affects 1 in every 100 people in Ireland and it is estimated that around 45,000 Irish people could be coeliac, many of which are, as yet, undiagnosed.
