Lord Mayor Cllr Mary Shields with Bill Taylor Chairman of the Cork Association of London signing the visitors book at City Hall, Cork during the courtesy visit to Lord Mayor Cllr Mary Shields. Since its foundation in March 1953 the aim of the Assocaition has been to bring Cork people in London together by way of social activities and other activities and also to provide help to those who may have fallen on hard times. Present membership is in the region of one hundred and sixty people.

On Wednesday 30th July 30th, 2014, the new Exercise Garden at the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit in St Finbarr’s Hospital, Cork was officially opened by Doug Howlett of the Munster Rugby Team. 
The recently revamped outdoor space will greatly enhance the rehabilitation and recovery of patients who, as a result of a stroke, frequently experience muscular weakness, impaired dexterity, uncoordinated movement and decreased function and mobility. 
The attractive garden incorporates exercise equipment that offers low impact cardiovascular exercise in the open air with different surfaces to improve balance.
