Science Week "Food is Funky" workshops on digestion for children. The “Food is Funky” workshops are taking place on Friday as part of Science Week in the Gaelscoil in Ballincollig and St Marie’s of the Isle NS. In these new workshops, piloted at the National Ploughing Championships, the pupils learn all about food and what happens after they swallow. They will get to experience digestion step by step, seeing what happens to 'Shreddies' in the mouth, adding stomach acid, then bile and other enzymes, absorbing all the nutrients and water until they eventually make their own …..faeces!
